We evaluate the medical history, ongoing medications, and habits of each candidate for
RENAISSANCE/FINESSE surgery and try to make sure that all our patients are in good health.
We work on the pictures kindly provided by our patients and assess the present anatomical
structure together with consideration of their requests as to the desired appearance. After
we share the results of our evaluation with the candidates, we set an appointment for real
physical examination and then the operation.
Once our patients arrive at the clinic, consultation with our staff anesthesiologist and the
related lab tests are completed. RENAISSANCE/FINESSE surgery is always done under
general anesthesia and usually lasts 3 hours, but extends to 5 hours when abdominoplasty is
also required. Our patients spend the first two nights in the hospital for close observation.
Suction drains are used to evacuate any fluid collection and a body garment provided by the
clinic is worn immediately after surgery. Slight pain and discomfort observed during this
period can easily be relieved by proper medication. Fractioned heparin is also started
immediately to prevent venous thrombosis and all patients are encouraged and guided to
walk as early as possible for the same purpose. It is usually possible to start oral feeding of
the patients 6 hours after surgery and they start to feel strong again at around 24 hours.
Drains are removed at the end of the hospitalization period and since all sutures used in this
surgery are the buried type, there is no need for suture removal and bulky dressings. They
can shower 3 to 4 days after the operation and wear daily clothes but keep the garment on
constantly. They are advised to keep the garment for at least 3 weeks for better wound
healing and reshaping of the body.
A total of 7 days of stay in Istanbul, including the hospital time, is usually enough for
RENAISSANCE/FINESSE surgery patients. We do a final examination at the end of this period
and instruct our patients on wound care and physical activities during the early phase of the
healing process, which is usually the following 4 weeks. They can start walking and
swimming in 2 weeks but should wait for another 2 weeks before starting cycling, running,
and weight-lifting. That 7-day stay has also been observed to be a safe duration for safe
return flight.
